Google is definitely keeping up with the times by offering college students, business owners and everyone else access to Internet applications that could very well replace the software that you are currently using at school, in your home or at your office. Google Docs, although still in beta, is an amazing application that comes with a spreadsheet, a word processor and even presentation software.

As with many new applications, there are still a few bugs that need to be worked out with Google Docs. The applications lack cross-integration making it impossible to link your presentation and your spreadsheet, nor your word processing documents and your presentations. The application may lacking a few features, but it is still a tool that any college student will find useful.

Just like any other tool you use at school, Google Docs has its pros and cons.

* All you need is a Google account. The application is totally free to use.
* You can export files in a number of various formats.
* It is easy to access your documents for more than one computer.
* You have access to a word processor, presentation software and a spreadsheet all in one easy-to-use Internet application.

Cons

* The application is new and still has a few bugs that need to be ironed out, but is still an exceptional tool to aid in the success of your college education.
* A few basic features are missing.
* Cross-integration is not currently possible.
* The application is not very appealing to the eye.

Why Use Google Docs?

Google Docs is a great way for college students to edit, share or save documents easily and securely on the Internet. The greatest advantage comes in the ability for students to collaborate on assignments. It is also a great way to save your most important documents and allow universal access to your files.

With Google Docs, it is easy to:

* Save a document.

* Tag a document.
* Share documents and collaborate with others.

* Print a document.

Classrooms are becoming more and more convenient as well as mobile with the use of distance learning and laptops. Google Docs is a virtual data system, so there is no software to install and the system is easy to use with your laptop. All you need is an Internet connection and a Google account and you will be granted access to all that Google Docs has to offer.

Google continues to improve and update the Google Docs system. Virtual systems are still in the early stages. However, applications like Google Docs are proving to be incredibly useful and simple to use. Although it will still be some time before you will be able to use Google Docs exclusively for all of your needs, but it is still a must-have Internet tool that will definitely come in handy while you are working hard at school.
